I’m starting a new class at UNT: Readings in Computer Education. It’s the last one. Apparently, I’ll be a master in a few short months. So how come I don’t feel like a master? Will I transform as I complete this class? Hope so.
Anyway, after reading the introductory info about my classmates (fascinating group; variety of experiences) and reviewing the topics, I’m actually becoming enthusiastic about the course. Instead of the last hurdle before graduation, I think it may become an informative, thoughtful journey–with real relevance for teaching and learning in the 21st century! Interestingly enough, I’m returning to my blog not because it’s a requirement of the course, but because there seem to be so many topics, information, links, and other resources that I want a central place to keep track of them all. I can post the links here, and also post my thoughts and observations as I progress through the readings. All of this is a great sign for the semester.
One of the first things up is an interview with Dr. Elliot Soloway (by Robert Scoble). Mainly, the conversation involved the use of cell phone and similar portable devices in the classroom–how they can transform learning and reduce the digital divide. Dr. Soloway founded the company GoKnow to facilitate the use of small portable devices for education. Great interview. Thought provoking.
I’m also interested in several of the links/resources mentioned in the program:
